Monday

berlin: launch of the AVANT/GARDE DIARIES

in the recent past, few events have been as talked-about, as the launch of the new digital interview magazine THE AVANT/GARDE DIARIES by Mercedes-Benz that will offer a platform to creatives from around the world to share their view on what they thing is avant-garde. reason for the hype around this launch - this was never going to be a quiet tea party, this was a 3-day festival featuring the best in art, music and lifestyle.

central to the festival called Transmission1 was its exhibition curated by Raf Simons, head designer at Jil Sander and man in the know when it comes to all things avant-garde. if the event was a preview to what awaits us on this new online-platform, then it just might become my new favorite source of inspiration.

the over 3000 visitors that attended the opening night on friday were treated to installations by Peter Saville and Peter de Potter, screenings by Jo-Ann Furniss, a live-set by These New Puritans, as well as a unique presentation of the the new Mercedes-Benz Concept A-CLASS.

a fantastic way of recognizing and appreciating bloggers as voices in this respect, was by invisiting bloggers Hapsical and DandyGum to sit in adorable, custom-made offices to live-blog from the event. both are listed as 10 of the featured artists showing at this exhibition.

my personal highlight was on sunday night, when outstanding performances by Michael Clark's Dance Company and the very awesome Fischerspooner gave a worthy ending to the 3-day avant-darde-a-thon.

for more impressions including comments by Raf Simons, Christiane Arp, Vladimir Karaleev and - oh - the travelettes, check out the video to the event:

cologne: bodi bill at smart urban stage

smart urban stage invited me to join them last friday for the last day of the smart urban stage in cologne before its move on to the next city. just like the time in berlin last year, lots of friends came along to celebrate and sip smart cocktails, and dance to bodi bill live on stage.

you can find more photos of the evening here.
